Company Data Rules

Just like with contact data rules, company data rules help keep our company contacts and locations organized.

This data guide makes it easy to sort your companies and match them with their parent or child companies. We have templates below for how to enter companies who were bought, merged, or have multiple locations. If you have questions, please reach out to hubspot@claim-doc.com.

  1. Remember to associate child companies to the HQ so that they populate and sync properly with Compass

  2. All companies should be created using the web domain

  3. No owners for companies, there are sometimes exceptions to this rule but do not assign a company an owner without confirming first

  4. Company record with only one office/location – name only

    1. Example: Oregon Social Learning Center

  5. Change type to corresponding type (i.e. prospects, client, benefit firm)

Parent Company

  1. Company Name (HQ) - City, State

    1. Example: USI (HQ) - Valhalla, NY

Child Companies

  1. Company Name – City, State Abbrev.

    1. Example: USI - St. Louis, MO

  2. If bought by another company but kept name: Company Name – Parent Company

    1. Example: TRUEbenefits - Alera Group

  3. If bought by another company and now has a new name, add the old name of the company to the description for reference.

    1. Example: Alera Group - Northeast, CT

  4. If there is a duplicate in the city, meaning multiple locations in the same city: Company Name – City, Street Name, State Abbrev.

    1. Example: USI - Chicago, Wacker Dr., IL

  5. If the domain represents a region, it should follow this format: Marsh & McLennan Agency - Northeast, State
