We've put together a list of definitions to help you clean your data as you get started. These definitions will help create a universal understanding of each type of contact and whether they will be assigned.

Please Note: These types are assigned to a salesperson based on region or relationship.

Broker - works at a Benefit Firm and has a direct relationship with the client(s)

Employer - someone who is a prospect at a regular company, with a title such as HR, CFO, CEO. They work at a company that could be a client, not necessarily an insurance company.
- Client - active client contact
- Retired - a past connected contact who has now retired
- Terminated client - former client
- Runout client - termed client but we are still processing their claims as the term date is in the future
- Provider - provider that has reached out to us about working with or that we work with, less commonly used
- Delete - HubSpot team will export and delete
Please Note: The following types are always unassigned contacts.

Stop Loss Carrier - works at/for a stop loss company.

TPA - works at/for a third-party administrator.

Vendor Partner - works at/for a company/vendor we partner with.

Please Note: Companies never have an owner.

Prospects - any company that isn't one of the other options - goes with Employer

Client - current client

Termed Client - former client
- Runout Client - termed client but we are still processing their claims as the term date is in the future

Benefit Firm - all employees at benefit firms are brokers. Big insurance benefit firms like USI, Lockton, etc.
