Type Definitions

We've put together a list of definitions to help you clean your data as you get started. These definitions will help create a universal understanding of each type of contact and whether they will be assigned.

Contact:

Please Note: These types are assigned to a salesperson based on region or relationship.

  1. Broker - works at a Benefit Firm and has a direct relationship with the client(s)

  2. Employer - someone who is a prospect at a regular company, with a title such as HR, CFO, CEO. They work at a company that could be a client, not necessarily an insurance company.

  3. Client - active client contact
  4. Retired - a past connected contact who has now retired
  5. Terminated client - former client
  6. Runout client - termed client but we are still processing their claims as the term date is in the future
  7. Provider - provider that has reached out to us about working with or that we work with, less commonly used
  8. Delete - HubSpot team will export and delete

Please Note: The following types are always unassigned contacts.

  1. Stop Loss Carrier - works at/for a stop loss company.

  2. TPA - works at/for a third-party administrator.

  3. Vendor Partner - works at/for a company/vendor we partner with.

Company:

Please Note: Companies never have an owner.

  1. Prospects - any company that isn't one of the other options - goes with Employer

  2. Client - current client

  3. Termed Client - former client

  4. Runout Client - termed client but we are still processing their claims as the term date is in the future
  5. Benefit Firm - all employees at benefit firms are brokers. Big insurance benefit firms like USI, Lockton, etc.

  6. TPA - third-party administrator

  7. Stop Loss Carrier

  8. Provider - specific medical providers/clinics, less commonly used

  9. Vendor Partner - a healthcare company we partner with
